Tucumcari
As usually, we woke up at 4:15 and left the motel around 5:00. As jet lag slowly fades away it gets harder and harder to make these morning starts. As we left behind Albuquerque we just ran into a beautiful sunrise on the way to Santa Fe, which rewarded big time for our missing hours of sleep.
We made the first stop in Santa Fe, which is a touristy-like town with a load of mexican influence.
We followed the way to Las Vegas, where we met a guy who builds and paints guitars by hand. We also learned that this freaking monsoon should have been over by a week ago or so. By the way this Las Vegas is not the big casino city, but a little town on historical Route 66.
By following 66 we arrived to Tucumcari, which is very charming and seriously creepy in the same time. Half of the town is fairly abandoned, but the other half is famous Rte66 destination. An intensive experience for sure.
Update: we just came back from the almost abandoned town that is glowing in neon lights. Like I said; creepy.
