Branson, Missouri – Ozarks ride
This will be a longer post. Sorry for the delay guys
We had a big run. We left Fayetteville and we went through some really nice curves in the forest. Our way crossed Rogers and Harrison and the very pretty Mountain View. On the way there we had some rain, some drizzle, no biggy.
And we arrived to Batesville. That’s where monsoon started. We got stuck under an abandoned fuel station and in the meantime we heard the news that this will be the weather in the next 5 days or so.
We had to modify our plans, we could not continue in this weather. We had to turn back and head to a new destination. We rode back all the way but in the meantime the real storm just got us. Right in the middle. We drove back to Branson through to Ozarks, up north to avoid the big storm that we saw on the radar. We rode 5 hours in constant monsoon rain. It was freezing cold, and as the cold rain touched the ground the fog came up. we couldn’t see shit. We bought new, dry clothes and a raincoat, but I tell you, driving like this freaks the rider out. We chilled to the bone, we didn’t see anything and we had a long run ahead of us to escape the shitstorm. On top of that all the roads were extreme slippery and had a steep angle. Scary as shit, I tell you. In this case you have no choice but driving.
If you’re not a biker you think it’s just some rain, you’ll be a bit wet and its over. It’s not. Every little drop is a cold nail in your face when you’re trying to maneuver a tank on ice skates down on a ski slope.
We made it to Branson in one piece. It turned out, Branson is a mini-Vegas. As a reward, we had a really good burger for dinner. I fell asleep in about 22 seconds.
